Upstairs Reveal: Kitchen / Living Room
I am so excited to share that we are officially done with the upstairs unit a.k.a. our current home. Before I show you how it looks today, let's take a trip down memory lane. Below are a few photos from when we first stepped foot inside, in addition to a few photos proving WE CAN DO HARD THINGS, like live in filth/chaos with a newborn and toddler.
September 1 - Arrived in Charleston
Mid September - Closed on duplex
September 22nd - Met with Michael from All House Design. After an initial consultation and measurements, he provided us with the following renderings of our future kitchen.
September and October - With our eye on the prize, we moved our family into the first floor unit of the duplex and demo began. Chad demolished our kitchen on his own, which was no small feat. There were dead roaches behind the cabinets, and the tiles took HOURS to chip out, one-by-one. Instead of hiring a project manager, we worked individually with all of the different contractors (plumbers, electricians, masons, etc.). While this saved us money, I'm sure it increased the time for the project to be completed. Below are several photos of the demo and construction process.
After Halloween, we moved back into the upstairs unit. While living upstairs, we had the backsplash installed, finished decorating, and ordered a couch. Finally, a few days after Christmas, the couch arrived and we said goodbye to the lawn chairs we sat in for four months.
Who knows what the future holds... but for now, it sure feels like home. :)
